GOODWILL MESSAGE

PROFESSOR ERNEST KOFI DAVIS

ACTING DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF GHANA EDUCATION SERVICE

On behalf of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and on my own behalf, I wish to congratulate Mfantsipim School on the occasion of its 150 years anniversary celebration. As a proud son of Mfantsipim School, I am always excited and grateful to God for the opportunity I had to attend this great school.
For a century and half, Mfantsipim School has contributed to the development of high quality human capital for Ghana and beyond. Mfanstipim School’s holistic approach to secondary education, characterised by balanced knowledge, skills, attitude, and values has undoubtedly positioned its graduates as innovators, entrepreneurs, global citizens and lifelong learners. A number of highly accomplished Ghanaians who have played major roles nationally and internationally such as the late Kofi Annan, the former United Nations Secretary General, and the late Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, the former Vice-President of Ghana were all proud sons of Mfantsipim School. Graduates of Mfantsipim continues to play leading roles in all sectors of the Ghanaian economy and beyond.
Continuously providing quality education for 150 years is not a mean achievement. GES is proud of the school’s achievement. The Service will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Education to ensure that Mfantsipim School sustains its leadership in delivering quality education in the country. The school will not be left out of key national reforms in secondary education. I am proud to mention that the school has recently received its share of tablets to support ICT integration in teaching and learning. The STEM laboratory will be equipped very soon to enable the school deliver high quality STEM and Technical Education.
I wish to admonish current and future students to work hard to continue to position our school as a centre of excellence in quality secondary education.
I wish to use this opportunity to thank the Methodist Church of Ghana, teachers and students, parents and guardians, staff, old students and all who in one way or another have supported and continue to support Mfantsipim School to maintain its identity as a beacon of academic excellence in the country.

Long live Kwabotwe! Ayekoo!!!

WELCOME ADDRESS FROM PRESIDING BISHOP

Most Rev’d Prof. Johnson K. Asamoah-Gyadu

Presiding Bishop, The Methodist Church Ghana

Beloved in Christ, distinguished Old Boys, staff, students, and cherished friends of Mfantsipim School, grace and peace from our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
It is with immense joy, gratitude, and a profound sense of history that on behalf of The Methodist Church Ghana, I extend this welcome message as Mfantsipim School, the first secondary school established in Ghana, celebrates 150 years of academic excellence, moral discipline, and transformative leadership. This milestone is not only a testament to the enduring legacy of “The School” but also a reflection of the faithfulness of God who has guided Mfantsipim since its founding in 1876 under the auspices of The Methodist Church Ghana.
The Methodist Church Ghana is proud of Mfantsipim School. For a century and a half, the School has stood as a cradle of disciplined scholarship and a beacon of national service. Founded on strong Methodist values, the school has consistently shaped generations of young men who have gone on to provide exemplary leadership in the Church, in governance, in the sciences and humanities, and across the global community. Your influence stretches far beyond the borders of Cape Coast; it permeates the very fabric of our national life.
This Mfantsipim@150 Website creates a platform that honours the School’s proud heritage while projecting its vision for the future. It is my hope that this digital space will serve not only as a repository of history but also as an inspiration to current and future “Botwe Boys” who carry the mantle of excellence. May it celebrate the countless individuals, teachers, chaplains, administrators, Old Boys, students, and partners, whose sacrifices and devotion have sustained the school across generations.
This anniversary invites us to reflect deeply on our call to mission. Mfantsipim School was established to “raise educated African Christian gentlemen,” and this mandate remains as relevant today as it was in 1876. In a world confronted with moral challenges and shifting values, the school is called anew to nurture young minds who are intellectually alert, spiritually grounded, and socially responsible.
On behalf of The Methodist Church Ghana, I congratulate the entire Mfantsipim community as you mark this remarkable milestone. May the next 150 years be filled with renewed strength, greater innovation, and a continued commitment to the values that have shaped this noble institution.
May God bless Mfantsipim School, its heritage, its mission, and its future.

Dwen Hwe Kan.

Headmaster’s Message

The Very Rev Ebenezer Kobina Aidoo

Headmaster, Mfantsipim School

It is with profound honour and heartfelt gratitude that I, on behalf of the Board of Governors, the staff, and the entire Mfantsipim community, extend warm felicitations to all as we commemorate the 150th Anniversary of our beloved institution. This historic milestone is a moment of solemn reflection and joyous celebration — a testament to the vision, faith, and perseverance of our founding fathers, whose dream in 1876 gave birth to a school destined to shape the conscience and leadership of our nation.
For a century and a half, Mfantsipim has stood as the cradle of disciplined intellect, moral integrity, and purposeful leadership. Guided by our timeless motto, Dwen Hwe Kan — “Think and Look Ahead” — the School has remained steadfast in its mission to nurture generations of young men who have gone forth to serve with excellence, humility, and devotion to God and country. The impact of Mfantsipim on Ghana’s educational, social, and spiritual fabric is immeasurable, and her influence continues to transcend borders and generations.
As we celebrate this remarkable anniversary, we do so in recognition of the countless men and women — headmasters, masters/mistresses, students, parents, and old boys — whose dedication and sacrifices have sustained the ideals of this noble institution. Their collective labour, faith, and loyalty have ensured that the flame kindled on that fateful day of April 3, 1876 still burns brightly.
This sesquicentennial celebration calls upon all of us to rededicate ourselves to the enduring values that have defined Mfantsipim — faith in God, integrity in service, and excellence in leadership. May our renewed commitment usher in another century of progress, relevance, and distinction.
On this auspicious occasion, I extend my deepest appreciation to all who continue to uphold the Mfantsipim spirit. May the Almighty God bless our endeavours and sustain the legacy of this great institution for generations to come.

Dwen Hwe Kan!

150TH ANNIVERSARY WELCOME MESSAGE

Moses Kwesi Baiden Jnr.

Ebusuapanyin, MOBA

One hundred and fifty years ago, Mfantsipim School began a journey that would shape generations of men — men of faith, discipline, and service. That journey has been marked by sacrifice, resilience, and an unyielding commitment to excellence.
As we reflect on this remarkable milestone, we must first give thanks to God for His unfailing grace and mercies. To all the teachers who have walked the hills of Mfantsipim, past and present, we owe a debt of gratitude for your devotion to nurturing minds and shaping character. Through your patience and discipline, you have not only taught lessons from books but have instilled in generations of boys the timeless values of integrity, humility, and service.
And to MOBA, and all who have kept the Kwabotwe spirit alive across time and distance, you have carried forward the dreams of our founders and preserved the bond that unites us. Whether through service, giving, or simply upholding the values we hold dear, you have ensured that the red and black flag continue to fly high.
Mfantsipim has given Ghana and the world leaders in every field — men who have built, taught, and inspired generations. Yet beyond these achievements lies our shared conviction that education is not just about knowledge, but about character, courage, and purpose.
As we celebrate 150 years of this sacred legacy, MOBA stands ready to lead Mfantsipim into the next century united, and impactful than ever. Our vision is clear: to build a world-class alumni fraternity that supports the school’s growth and nurtures future old boys.
This future will not build itself. It will take every old boy, near and far, to rally behind one purpose; to give back generously and secure the promise of those who will come after.
This is our moment to rise as one MOBA family – united in heritage, bound by faith, and driven by the belief that Mfantsipim’s best days are yet to come.

Happy 150th Anniversary to us all
